Welcome to Word Sprout!

I have always believed that change begins with words. From our words, ideas grow and from those ideas, action and finally, change. Without change we cannot grow! If we cannot grow, we will never be able to reach our dreams.

Word Sprout is the field to plant those ideas of positive change. Together we will discuss ways in which we can change ourselves, our society and our world, one word at a time. Word Sprout is a forum for discussion and I encourage any comments, questions or suggestions. I only ask that these actions remain in a positive and constructive light. Negativity is always discouraged upon in Word Sprout.

For this welcome post, I would like to include a short biography to give you a little background of yours truly.

Lets start with the basics. My name is, Heather Simpson. I am 30 years old, sublimely married with no kids. I am a cat person and I have a manx named, Beazie. I grew up in Alaska but have since moved to the lower 48. I have been a professional hairstylist, cashier, Avon Sales Rep, and a professional long-haul truck driver. I hold a B.S. in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology. I am currently working in the Mental Health field.

I have successfully made the following profound, positive changes over the last 10 years;

Quit Drinking (9 years sober)

Quit Drugs (9 years clean)

Quit Smoking Cigarettes (3 years)

Left an abusive relationship and learned how to seek healthy ones!

Recycle

Drive a low-gas mileage car (Toyota Yaris)

Treat myself better

My current goals include;

Losing weight

Treating others better

Becoming more positive

Continuing to make changes that will benefit the planet

Learn to express myself without cursing like a trucker!

As you can see I have a lot left to work on! I created Word Sprout so that I can share my experiences with the changes that I have made and to also learn from you! We all have changes we would like to make and Word Sprout is the place we can learn from each other. I do not claim to be a change expert (BTW, I also do not claim to be an English major!) and I suspect that such a person does not exist. However, it is my belief that when a change is desired it is best learned from someone who has successfully made that change already.

So, there you have it! You know a little about me and why I started Word Sprout. There is no limit to the topics on Word Sprout as change occurs in every arena! Word Sprout will return weekly with a new topic of positive change.
